Last night, I was wandering through Chapters killing some time before heading over to a Christmas party at a friends house.
After sniffing the candles (I looooooove scented candles! It’s seriously embarrassing how much I love to smell them!) and browsing the sale items I found myself flipping through a copy of ‘Oh She Glows’ – a plant based, natural health food recipe book.
Let me tell you – I NEVER thought plant based recipes could look that tasty! Anyone who knows me well knows that I take clean, healthy eating seriously!
So, there I was perusing the breakfast category when the lady next to me asks if I’ve ever tried any of the recipes.
I said, ‘Not yet, but I love the concept of eating clean without all the processed junk and un-pronounceable ingredients that we put into our bodies daily. I think that processed food alone contributes to at least half of our health problems today(Hello Holiday season!!).
‘I’m Patricia, nice to meet you!’ ‘I’m Zoe, nice to meet you as well!’
Zoe told me that she highly recommended the cookbook and that the recipes were great to use. I explained how I was really excited that I would be able to shop at Trader Joe’s soon as I’m moving to Georgia shortly, and that store carries a lot of natural health foods and products.
‘What are you moving to Georgia for?’ she asked.
Right here is where a door opened. I was able to tell her about the missions trip I had gone on and how that lead to CGA and what that was about.
‘Did you ever think before that you would’ve done a missions trip like this?’
I said ‘Not a chance. If someone had told me a few years ago that I would be going on an 11 month missions trip and then shortly after onto a 5 month leadership program, I wouldn’t have believed them.’
I was able to share a bit more with Zoe before we parted ways and said Merry Christmas, but I was so astounded getting into my car just how God can use the littlest things to prompt a conversation with a total stranger!
As I drove to the Christmas party, I prayed for Zoe and whatever seeds that might have been planted because of our conversation.
So, the next time a stranger starts a conversation with you in the store, don’t shut them down! Take those extra few minutes to talk to them, because you never know how God might be using that conversation; whether it’s over a head of lettuce, a pair of shoes, or even a cookbook 🙂
Happy Sunday Friends!
